Red Sox Opening Day 2016

Spring is finally here and we are so excited to share Red Sox Opening Day 2016 with you!

We had a wonderful experience as Red Sox Moms on Friday when we were able to do a walk through of Fenway Park. Not only were we able to shake hands and have fun with Wally and his kid sister Tessie. We were also able to see the new safety netting, updates to Gate K AND sample some of the incredible any thing but average food offering for 2016.

Family Safety

First off lets talk safety. This is always a family concern and in response to recent events new protective netting has been added. This new protective netting extends from dugout to dugout and brings an added level of safety and peace of mind to everyone at the park.

Family Fun

Gate K is the place to be. If you have a family this is the entrance gate for you. Packed with your favorite Fenway mascots, Calling All Kids kiosk, Wally’s clubhouse and now a Virtual Reality Experience you won’t want to miss it. Don’t for get to sign up for Calling All Kids and become a part of Red Sox Kid Nation and attend a game for free. For high school and college students with a student ID, the club will again offer a $9 ticket for every regular season home game.

About Virtual Reality Experience at Fenway

For the first time, the club will offer a virtual reality experience at Fenway Park through a series of 360 videos that give exclusive, all-access views of what it’s like to be a Red Sox player during the 2016 season. These Virtual reality stations will be available to kids in Wally’s Clubhouse and to all fans in the Kids Concourse. The videos will also be available to fans online.

Wally and His Little Sister Tessie

We we all love Wally and now it’s time to fall in love with Tessie. Wally’s little sister is here for the 2016 season and we’re sure her and Wally will be making lots of appearances as Gate K.

There are updates to Wally’s Clubhouse too:
  • A rolling mobile exhibit will feature a miniature fiberglass version of Pesky’s Pole that youngsters can sign with a dry erase marker, a piece of the padded field wall that lines the infield and outfield, and various compartments with objects for them to feel, such as a deconstructed baseball and Fenway Park dirt.
  • Miniature lockers staged to look just like the ones in the Red Sox clubhouse will be installed in Wally’s Clubhouse, and an oversized trunk filled with authentic Red Sox jerseys, cleats, and batting gloves will be available for kids to play dress up.
  • In addition to the tactile elements, enhanced organized games and activities such as Red Sox bingo, story time, Q&A sessions, and lessons on scoring the game will take place in the space. The Red Sox will also host a comprehensive clinic later in the season for kids who want to learn how to score the game.
  • For the young collectors in the family, an extensive Red Sox bobblehead collection will be on display in the Team Store window located in the Kids Concourse.

Hungry? Fenway has You Covered

The food offerings for 2016 are expanded and beyond belief. Not just catering to the flavors and tastebuds of the adult fans with options like:
  • Korean Fried Pork Belly Sandwiches
  • Lobster Rolls
  • Double Play Dogs
  • Pork Loin Sandwiches
  • Zeppoles and more.

Kid Nation – Fenway knows you get hungry too! Be sure to check out their Cheetos Popcorn (we loved it AND got to see it being made) Looking for gluten-free options? Fenway Park offers hot dogs with gluten free rolls and gluten free pizza.
