Our Kung Fu Panda 3 Placemat DIY is perfect for serving up a some noodles before you head out to the theater. Kung Fu Panda 3 will be in theaters January 29, 2016. Will Po find his dad? We can’t wait to find out. Here’s a little preview.

Don’t forget to get your tickets ahead of time through Fandango so you can see Po using his Dragon Warrior skills without having to wait in line.

Let gather up some supplies and get crafting. We got our supplies at our local big box craft store, along with some things we had hanging around the house:

  • Craft foam – we purchased a package of 12″x18″ foam sheets in a variety of colors – we used red, black, white and green for this craft
  • Craft foam glue
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Bowl – for tracing
  • Dough – we used a popular kids brand – also for tracing

Steps

  • Gather your supplies and start by placing the red foam sheet as your base. Next, using a large mixing bowl to trace a partial circle on white foam and cut it our. This foam shape will be the panda face and will not completely fit on the placemat, cut off any excess.
  • Using the craft dough, make the shape of an ear using the white foam craft panda face as a guide. We used the image of Po on a fortune cookie as our guide.
  • Once you have the desired shape, move the dough to the black craft foam, trace and cut
  • Repeat these steps for the eyes (black, white, green), nose (black) and mouth (black).

  • Once you have all the pieces cut, place them using craft foam glue.

Cutting Bamboo Shapes

Using the remainder of the green craft foam and your pencil, draw cylinder shapes adding a curve to the top of the shape and the opposite curve to the bottom of the shape. Cut out shapes using scissors  and piece together with craft foam glue. The bamboo shapes should have space between them.

Serve It Up

Serve up your Kung Fu Panda 3 Placemat with a serving of noodles, some peapods and a fortune cookie of course. We found Kung Fu Panda 3 fortune cookies at our local supermarket in the produce section near the bean sprouts and peapods.
