ML-DragonsHoard-Featured

Do you have an adventurer in your home that enjoys tales and sagas from the past? Author Lari Don takes a look back at the Viking sagas – action packed with warriors, battles and even monsters in The Dragon’s Hoard, Stories from the Viking Sagas.

Mom’s Lifesavers was provided with a copy to facilitate this review, all opinions expressed are our own.

We have enjoyed reading these adventures as a family read out loud and sharing the legends and lessons learned.

The Dragon’s Hoard, Stories from the Viking Sagas, includes 11 short stories that are not only action packed  they are based on traditional stories that have been passed down by the Vikings themselves.

  • The Dragon’s Hoard
  • The Swan Warrior
  • The Berserker’s baby
  • Tusker versus the Earl
  • The Bear in Chains
  • The Raven Banner
  • The Boy in the Bones
  • Sailing to America
  • Zombie on the Roof
  • Hunting Magnus
  • Odin’s Riddles

Also included is a section, About the Viking Sagas and Where I Found These Stories.

The stories can be violent at times, but not all the time. The Vikings may have been known for their fighting but they were also explorers, sailors and even farmers. Their stories were told from generation to generation out loud and not written down for hundred of years.

One of our favorite stores was The Swan Warrior from The Saga of Hromund Gripsson. Helgi a great warrior, and tells his love Kara, that he will fight only one more battle before he settles down. Kara insists that she must protect him in battle even though she is much smaller than him. This tale is both of a great battle and love.
