Family Game Time – Sleeping Queens

December 15, 2013 By: Bonniecomment

Let’s Have a Family Game Time of Sleeping Queens.

Family Game Time Sleeping Queens

The best family game time game!

We were introduced to this year – Sleeping Queens! While picking our daughter up at a friends house I noticed Sleeping Queens on the table – my friend noticed me looking and said,
“Do you have Sleeping Queens? We love it!” – she then went on to tell me that it involves chance, math, matching, potions, dragons, knights and more – are you kidding? I was sold.

What I look for in a game like Sleeping Queens:

  • Something the whole family can play (ages 6 and up – literally – I need the 8 AND 12 year old to want to play too)
  • It can’t go on forever – after all I have a bedtime
  • Thinking – yes, games where we actually think and use strategy are more interesting to everyone involved
  • Complicated – NOT!
  • Fun – I want to have fun with it – who doesn’t?

Sleeping Queens has it ALL – and for Under $10 it won’t break the bank.

Here is the object of the game (from the rules of play): “Be the first player to collect 5 queens or have 50 points in a 2-3 player game or collect 4 queens or have 40 points in a 4-5 player game or have the most points when all the queens have been awakened.” – pretty simple and yet there are twists – you can play a knight card and steal a queen from a player – but watch out – if they have a dragon card they can fight you off – and let’s not even get started on the sleeping potions!
TIP – One of the great things about this game is you never have more than 5 cards in your hand – very manageable for even the youngest of the players!

We got our copy at Green Elephant Toys – AND they gave us a copy to give to one of our readers!
