Pillowcase Bag – Sew Easy!

Super Easy – Very Green – Great for the Beach

ML-PillowcaseBag

Pillowcase Bag Perfect to Make with the Kids!

I have been trying to introduce my kids to the sewing machine – mind you, I can barely sew a straight line but I do think it is important to be able to sew on a button and know how to thread a sewing machine – you never know when you might need to put something together in a pinch!

These are so easy to make and are easy to wash – after all they are pillowcases. We headed to the thrift store to find some cool pillowcases and love the $.50 price of them. Our daughter recently got her own sewing machine and having simple and functional projects to make on her own are great. These are a perfect gift to give.

Here’s what you need:

  • Pillowcase
  • Marker or Pen that will write on fabric
  • Scissors
  • Thread
  • Sewing Machine or Needle/Patience

TIP – I picked up some pillowcases at the local thrift store for $.50 each – mush less than purchasing fabric and more than half the stitching is already done for you!

Steps (See Pictures below)

  • Turn the pillowcase inside out and sew the top together.
  • Fold the case in and mark pillowcase
  • Cut along the marked area
  • Optional – turn down edges and sew in
