Chatham Bars Inn Revamped Children’s Program for 2014

June 24, 2014 By: Christinecomment

Pop Rock Volcanoes, Beach Bonfires, and iScavenger Hunts are on tap on Cape Cod at Chatham Bars Inn ChathamPost2

Calling all Beach Buddies and Clam Diggers: Chatham Bars Inn’s children’s program will be back and better than ever this summer. The beloved Cape Cod resort, a favorite family destination for 100 years, will re-launch its popular program June 23 with a bevy of new creative activities for kids from tots to tweens, and the fun will continue until September 1.

Participating kids are grouped into Beach Buddies, ages 4-7, and Clam Diggers, ages 8-12, and can choose from three sessions daily. Morning (9 – 11 a.m.) and afternoon (2 – 4 p.m.) sessions are $25 per child, while the evening session (5:30 – 9 p.m.) includes dinner and is priced at $60.

Among the brand-new activities for Beach Buddies this year is Eco-Chefs – a cooking lesson using produce from the resort’s own Brewster farm. KABOOM lets future mad scientists experiment with pop-rock volcanoes and elephant toothpaste, while costumed kids enjoy early trick-or-treating at the Halloween House Party. These join Chatham Bar Inn classics like swim and tennis lessons, a Pirate & Princess Hunt and IN-Tents Camping, where youngsters help pitch a tent and toast s’mores under the stars.

For older kids and the tween set, Clam Diggers is introducing iScavenge – complete with an app to lead participants through a series of wacky tasks. Also new are Baseball with the Chatham A’s, where players from the Cape Cod Baseball League stop by to share their tips, a Trip to Tween Beach boat ride to North Beach Island, and Crack the Case, a dinner detective mystery night. Returning are the resort’s traditional Cardboard Boat Regatta – a time-honored favorite, the Amazing Fear Factor Race, pool parties, sports lessons and more.

All children’s program counselors at Chatham Bars Inn are CPR/first-aid certified. Reservations are required in advance and can be made through the concierge at extension 6871.
