Making Fresh Veggies Fun To Eat – A hit with the kids

I’m always looking for an interesting way to get vegetables into my kids and when I saw this ‘As Seen On TV’ products at our local pharmacy I decided to give it a try.

The Veggetti spiral cutter pitch is that it makes ‘Perfect, delicious pasta without the carbs!’ I wasn’t interested in actually boiling the vegetables but rather use them for stir-fry and salads.

After taking the product out of box, I noticed it came with a ‘top’ that has ‘teeth’ on it – a safety feature for when the vegetable you are cutting gets small. The top will keep your finger out of the slicer. Also included is a recipe book that gives cutting and boiling instructions.

The slicer features two openings or blade sizes: thin and thick. Both were easy to use and didn’t notice much of a difference in thickness.

I was impressed with how easy it was to use. I used the Veggetti to spiral cut zucchini and carrots and tossed them with some salad dressing – it was quick, easy and delicious.

The real test was the kids. For dinner I served up some Veggetti sliced carrots with some ranch dressing – it was a hit!

I am going to give it a try as a replacement for pasta too but in the meantime I am enjoying my fresh take on a veggie salad.
