Impulse Buy – Watermelon Slicer

August 28, 2013 By: Bonniecomment

What was I thinking? I’ll tell you,
“This would make a great blog post for our gadget review.”

watermelon slicer
Here is how it went down.
I bought a seedless watermelon – the smaller rounder variety of watermelon.

I read the instructions and followed them, cutting off a portion of the top and placed the cutter on the melon.

Looking good so far.
Nice, huh?
HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

The largest diameter of the watermelon, the center of the ‘ball’ was not small enough to go through the cutter. This involved me trying to remove the cutter by pulling it back up. (I would like to point out that this was a comedy of errors and very entertaining to watch, not to mention my husband’s comment – “Should I get you a knife NOW?”)

Once the cutter was removed from the watermelon, I continued my adventure by ‘shaving down the edges’ of the melon so that it would fit in the cutter. It was a tight squeeze but worked.

Finally – tada!

Regardless of how it was sliced the watermelon was great, refreshing and I learned that I can be very entertaining when it comes to attempting to slice the perfect watermelon.

Final thoughts – We won’t be giving one of these away – that is unless someone wants mine – the stinkin thing is so big and sharp – where am I going to store it? It won’t even fit in my utility drawer.

Again, what was I thinking?
